Flu and Tetanus (Tdap) Vaccines

Flu and tetanus vaccines in Houston, TX. Administered by medical staff in Spanish, with affordable pricing.

At Clínica Hispana Cruz 4 we give two vaccines nearly every adult needs at some point: the flu shot each season and Tdap, which protects against tetanus, diphtheria and whooping cough. No appointment, with everything explained in Spanish.

Flu vaccine

The CDC recommends a yearly flu shot for everyone six months and older, because the virus changes and protection from last year's shot fades over the months. The best time is September or October, before flu starts spreading hard in Houston, but it still helps throughout the season. Priority groups include seniors, expectant mothers and anyone living with a chronic lung, heart or blood-sugar condition.

Tdap and tetanus boosters

  • A Tdap shot in the third trimester of each pregnancy passes antibodies to the baby, guarding against whooping cough in the first weeks
  • Texas requires Tdap for seventh-grade entry
  • After a dirty or deep wound, if your last booster was more than five years ago, you may need one

Every adult should have at least one Tdap dose in their lifetime, then a tetanus booster every ten years. Also:

Before your shot

Tell us if you have a fever, have ever had a strong reaction to a vaccine or are pregnant. A runny nose without fever is not a reason to postpone.

Afterward

Some soreness or redness in the arm is normal, and sometimes tiredness or a low fever for a day. We give you proof of vaccination; keep it with your shot record, since schools, employers and the immigration exam ask for it.
